Reflections from Directions EMEA

From the 4th to 6th October, some of the Triangle team attended the Directions EMEA conference again, the largest meeting of Dynamics NAV partners in Europe which took place this year in Madrid.

Microsoft presented the recommendations which will guide the NAV community for the next few months. As a big development, they announced the release of Dynamics NAV 2018 for the 1st December 2017, a very welcomed piece of news by all of the partners since a release was not expected for this year. In addition, there are other products in the Roadmap of Microsoft, which we will explain in the next blog articles that we will be publishing in spring 2018.
In terms of Nav 2018, this new version will be born with a renewed user interface which they have worked on to improve the design and usability. And, of course, it is 100% adapted to a mobile and tablet app.

Furthermore, the integration with outlook functionality has been updated thanks to artificial intelligence. During a demo, we were able to see how artificial intelligence read an email in which the customer asked for a series of products and it automatically prepared a quotation (all without leaving Outlook but with the logic of Nav behind it).
Artificial intelligence and advanced prediction algorithms are two of the biggest focuses of Microsoft for the future, together with the cloud environment as a key infrastructure. Because in this process of reinvention, the ERP isn’t left behind and there is a also a commitment to constant change and modernisation with the aim of being able to dedicate more time to the business and less to the routine management tasks.
